Inheritance management is a major issue for social and economic development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly in Lomami Province. The establishment of probate offices aims to facilitate the settlement of inheritances and guarantee the protection of inheritance rights. However, the operationalization of these structures faces significant legal, administrative, and socio-economic challenges. Legal uncertainties surrounding inheritance legislation, complex administrative processes, and socio-economic inequalities exacerbate the obstacles to the effective functioning of these offices. The objective of this article is to explore these challenges while highlighting establishment and operationalization strategies that could be implemented to improve the inheritance management system in Lomami Province. This analysis aims to contribute to a better understanding of the issues at stake and to propose practical recommendations to strengthen legal security and the well-being of the population.
