In the cercle of Youwarou, children of nomadic parents receive school education thanks to the mobile school that follows them as they travel to different sites. The outbreak of an unprecedented security crisis in 2012 in the central and northern regions of Mali, followed by inter-community conflicts, has brought the functioning of schools to a halt, particularly the mobile schools in the Youwarou cercle.
This study aims to examine the impact of armed conflict on mobile schools in the Youwarou cercle.
The methodological orientation of this study is mixed. We used a questionnaire and an interview guide to gather information. We conducted our surveys in localities in the Youwarou district and among families (households) displaced to new sites (Mopti town and Sevaré town). We worked with a planned sample of 100 people, 80 of whom were real. For data processing and analysis, we chose EXCEL software.
The results obtained show that the crisis in central Mali has led to increased insecurity, which has had a strong impact on education in general, particularly in the mobile schools of the Youwarou circle. This insecurity caused by the armed conflict has hampered the functioning of schools around Youwarou, particularly the mobile schools. Mobile schools have been closed and children from nomadic communities are mostly deprived of schooling.
